City of Fort Pierce Announces Launch of New E-Scooter Share Program

Spin, in partnership with the City of Fort Pierce, is set to launch the city’s new e-scooter share program throughout the community on Saturday, October 16, 2021. This new micromobility program will offer residents and visitors a convenient and sustainable transportation option.

Spin plans to launch the program with a fleet of 200 scooters and will adjust that number based on demand over the course of the program. Scooters will be available for rent at various locations throughout the City between 7 am and 10 pm. Spin will be implementing slow zones, no-park zones, and no-ride zones based on findings from the City’s previous pilot program.

In September 2019, the City of Fort Pierce launched a scooter-share pilot program with the goal of learning how best to realize the benefits of micromobility programs while addressing common pitfalls. The pilot program ended in September 2020, and the City subsequently conducted a competitive request for proposals process for a scooter-share vendor to operate a turnkey, financially self-sustaining, automated, on-demand public electric scooter sharing system within the City of Fort Pierce. The RFP was developed based on the lessons learned in the pilot program, best practices from other jurisdictions, and feedback from stakeholders.

Spin was selected as the highest-ranked respondent and the City entered into a 3-year agreement for the program. Headquartered in San Francisco, Spin is a leading micromobility company and a unit of Ford Mobility. As a trusted and reliable partner, Spin currently operates electric scooters in many cities and universities nationwide in the U.S. and Europe.
