Great American Cleanup
Show your Fort Pierce pride by volunteering during the Great American Cleanup, Fort Pierce’s largest annual litter cleanup and beautification event, on Saturday March 13, 2021 from 8am until noon.
Since this year's clean-up will not include a festival or transportation due to the ongoing pandemic, Keep Fort Pierce Beautiful invites Fort Pierce residents to coordinate a cleanup of their own as part of the national Clean Your Block initiative. In an effort to provide a safe environment for volunteers, participants are encouraged to form small teams and choose an area to pick up litter. Any cleanup project that occurs on March 13 can receive recognition as part of the Great American Cleanup. Volunteers may be provided with litter collection supplies like trash bags, gloves and t-shirts (while supplies last).

How it works...
Before the event:
- Step 1. Mark your calendar for March 13 – you can participate by yourself or organize a group.
- Step 2. Choose a location to pick up litter. It can be your own neighborhood or a location of your choice within city limits.
- Step 3. Register as an individual, a family or a group by March 11, 2021. (Note: Registration is now closed)
- Step 4. Pick up your free t-shirts and cleanup supplies March 8-12 between 8am and 3pm at the Public Works Compound (while supplies last).
On the day of the event:
- Step 5. Pick up litter on March 13.
- Step 6. Place all bagged trash in as few piles as possible in the general area where it was collected.
After the event:
- Step 7. Submit pictures and report your efforts with an easy, online form.
Safety Precautions: We're requesting all participants adhere to COVID-19 safety guidelines - keep your volunteer groups small, wear masks and social distance.

Who can participate?
Everyone! Community organizations, businesses, individuals, non-profit, governmental agencies, and scout troops all are welcome to participate in this event. This event is approved for community service hours and certificates will be available upon request.
How do I get my supplies?
Registered volunteers can pick up supplies and shirts March 8-12 between 8am and 3pm at the Public Works Compound (52 Savannah Rd., Fort Pierce). For questions, please call 772-467- 3795 or 772-467-3821.
Can volunteers choose a location to clean up?
Yes. Volunteers are encouraged to choose a location that is important to them. Locations can include school campuses, creeks and other waterways, parks, neighborhoods, etc.
What do I do with the trash bags collected?
Leave litter bags in a central location where the litter was collected.
Will the City still have an Arbor Day Celebration?
Yes. The annual Arbor Day Planting Celebration is also happening on March 13th in conjunction with the Great American Cleanup on Sunrise Boulevard across from Pinewood Park. The event starts at 8am and lasts until all 21 new trees are planted and staked in the median. The City of Fort Pierce is proud to have received the prestigious Tree City USA designation for 32 consecutive years from the National Arbor Day Foundation in honor of its commitment to effective urban forest management and this tree planting celebration is another example of that commitment.
