The City of Fort Pierce is continuing to monitor Tropical Cyclone Eta and preparing for any potential impact. Residents should take necessary precautions as parts of the Treasure Coast are now under a Tropical Storm Watch.
Conditions
The increasing likelihood that Tropical Cyclone Eta brings a prolonged period of very windy conditions and the threat of Excessive Rainfall to the Treasure Coast Sunday through Monday night. The risk of flooding rain will be highest along the Treasure Coast through Monday night. Storm total accumulations may reach 5 to 7 inches. Areas prone to flooding especially across coastal Martin and St. Luce counties will have a heightened risk with the heavy rainfall expected.
Windy conditions are expected throughout the day and into the evening. Very Windy conditions Sunday through Monday as Eta makes its closest approach. Onshore moving showers with gusts to tropical storm force (50-60 mph) are likely Sunday night into Monday, especially along the coast.
Marine conditions will continue to deteriorate this weekend with hazardous winds and seas for small craft and high surf developing along the Atlantic coast. Moderate beach erosion and minor coastal Flooding may also develop by Sun night and Mon.
Residents should stay alert to forecast changes by reliable sources. Emergency Response Teams from Public Works are currently ensuring that the stormwater systems are free of obstructions and operating at full capacity.

Sand Distribution
The City of Fort Pierce is offering free self-serve sandbag stations for residents at Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Dreamland and Jaycee Parks. Residents should bring their own bags and shovel. Parks are open daily from dawn to dusk.
Solid Waste Collection
We are asking residents to please refrain from cutting down vegetation or doing major projects until the system passes. Residents should not place any additional debris at the curb as it may block surface stormwater flow.
