Peacock Arts District

The City of Fort Pierce invites you to share your vision for the future of the Peacock Arts District.

The City of Fort Pierce invites the community to share input, ideas, and feedback regarding the newly created Peacock Arts District (PAD) on Thursday, September 13 at the corner of 9th Street and Orange Avenue  from 6:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

The meeting will be held under a tent in the field next to the Old St. Anastasia School in the heart of the PAD. It will be an open-house style meeting, the public is invited to stop by anytime between 6:30 pm and 8:00 pm. Topics to be discussed include: beautification, activity generation, economic development, planning and zoning, extending district boundaries and more.

Following the meeting, the community is invited to a free outdoor movie which will begin at dusk. Grab your lawn chairs or blankets and to enjoy a showing of Disney/Pixar's “Coco.” It will be fun for the whole family!

For those interested but unable to attend, an online survey will be available following the meeting, where you can submit ideas and feedback.

ABOUT THE PEACOCK ARTS DISTRICT

The Orange Avenue corridor west of U.S. Highway 1 was once a bustling part of Fort Pierce. Shops, salons and markets lined the street and created an abundance of activity from residents who lived in the immediate vicinity and beyond. However, for some time now, the area between U.S. Hwy 1 and 10th Street has been in need of revitalization.

The City of Fort Pierce recognized that something needed to be done to help refresh the area and in an effort to garner the community’s feedback about their vision, the City of Fort Pierce held an Orange Avenue Community Meeting in March 2016.  Since that meeting was held, city staff has been focused on making our community’s vision a reality. The name, Peacock Arts District was generated by the community during the public meeting and the area is now being branded with its own unique identity and culture.

City of Fort Pierce staff are working oh several different ideas for the district but want to be sure that the city’s vision is aligned with the community’s vision. At the community meeting, there will be an opportunity to learn about what the city has planned for the district and for the community to provide input and brainstorm new ideas.
