The City of Fort Pierce and St. Lucie Public Schools will host a ribbon-cutting ceremony to celebrate the Dan McCarty Middle School Track improvement project on Wednesday, October 26 at 9:00 AM at 1201 Mississippi Avenue. In recent years, increasing access to recreational facilities that already exist at schools has emerged as one of the most promising strategies for building more opportunities for activity into neighborhoods. This may be the reason that tracks, located at middle and high schools have been the center of communities' physical activity. The track at Dan McCarty Middle School is no different. It is regularly used by hundreds of Fort Pierce citizens - runners, joggers and walkers. Earlier this year the City Commission approved an Interlocal Agreement with St. Lucie Public Schools to resurface the track and install new energy efficient LED lighting. The public is invited to celebrate the completion of this project at the ribbon-cutting ceremony.
