As Florida continues to experience extreme cold weather, energy demand across the state remains higher than usual, which can place added strain on the electric system.
Customers can help reduce demand by conserving electricity during Peak Hours when energy demand is expected to be the highest (7-10 PM tonight, and 6-9 AM tomorrow):
-Set your thermostat 2 degrees lower
-Avoid frequent thermostat adjustments
-Wait to use large appliances outside peak hours
-Charge electric vehicles after 9 AM or mid-day when possible
-Limit hot water use, especially during Monday morning peak hours
Small actions over the next couple of days can help manage energy use and reduce strain on the electrical system.
FPUA remains engaged in statewide coordination related to electric grid operations and will continue to share updates as conditions change. Our crews also remain diligent in the field, as local high winds have led to short, intermittent outages throughout the service territory.
As always, we appreciate your partnership and support while we work through this cold weather period together. – FPUA
