The Fort Pierce Police Department is getting ready for its 2nd Annual Unity In Our Community. This fun, family-empowering event will bring approximately 60 nonprofit organizations together at Percy Peek Gymnasium, located at 2902 Avenue D, on Wednesday, July 11th, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.
Adults, parents and children from Fort Pierce and surrounding communities are invited to participate in the day’s exciting activities. We encourage attendees to arrive early to take advantage of the valuable resources, including services for seniors, offender re-entry, health screenings, HIV/STI testing, education, parenting, mentoring, blood donation and much more.
Starting at 11 a.m., there will be a talent showcase, featuring performances from local music and spoken word artists, skits, and chances to win door prizes. There will also be several kid-centered activities such as rock and face painting, an inflatable basketball hoop, a slip and slide, and wet and dry bounce houses for the children to enjoy.
Some of the participating organizations include: Agricultural and Labor Program Inc; American Red Cross; Big Brothers/Big Sisters; Boys & Girls Clubs of St. Lucie County; END IT!; CASTLE; Florida Community Health Centers Inc.; Florida Department of Health; Graceway Village; Indian River State College; St. Lucie County School District; Up Center; WE LEAP, Inc. and Your Aging and Disability Resource Center/SHINE.
