Fort Pierce residents and visitors can enjoy a free, on-demand, 100% electric transportation service thanks to a partnership between the City and Freebee. In an effort to achieve the goals in the Redevelopment Plan, this one-year pilot program is funded by the FPRA to connect neighborhoods, amenities and destinations by providing mobility options to increase economic activity and an improved quality of life.
Users can access a Freebee ride in three simple steps:
- Download the Ride Freebee mobile app on the App Store or Google Play. Users in need of accessibility accommodations or who do not have a smartphone can call (855) 918-3733 to request a ride.
- Request a pickup at your location and select a destination from an array of interesting places to explore on the Freebee app or enter the address of their desired location.
- Enjoy the FREE ride!
Freebee’s on-demand service will be available in Fort Pierce Thursday through Sunday beginning at 10 am each day until 8 pm on Thursdays and Sundays, and 10 pm on Fridays and Saturdays.
The goal of the program is to provide connectivity within the FPRA and business district that will be a huge economic development driver for the local business community while also filling mobility gaps, easing traffic congestion, and stress on parking demands. Whether for work, appointments, or play, Freebee will pick passengers up at their doorsteps and safely deliver them to their destination of choice within the service zone. The current service area encompasses downtown Fort Pierce and stretches across the bridge to the north end of the island on the beachside. It includes notable destinations like the Sunrise Theatre, St. Lucie County Aquarium, and Jetty Park.
