    Hollywood stars debut under Fort Pierce skies this season, as “Movies in the Fort” brings big-screen entertainment to local parks for the very first time. On various Friday nights from January to May, parks in six local neighborhoods will host FREE outdoor movies featuring today’s blockbusters and classic family favorites. Movies in the Fort gives residents in all parts of the city an opportunity to engage with their neighbors and community. Fort Pierce is committed to increasing access to family-friendly cultural opportunities, and this new movie-series is a perfect example of this work. Guests are encouraged to bring lawn chairs or blankets. Patrons are also welcome to bring their own picnic dinner.     Longineu Parsons – singer, flutist and one of the world’s finest trumpeters; Ted Shumate – blazing, soulful, guitarist – world class musicians who express the heart and soul of American music! 21 Blue will take you from Louis Armstrong to Howlin’ Wolf to Miles Davis to Jimi Hendrix and beyond. This group does what no other group can in terms of playing the history of American music and making you love the fact that you are there to dance to it. Parsons has been hailed by critics internationally as being one of the world’s finest trumpet players and has performed and recorded with such greats as: Cab Calloway, Nat Adderley, Cecil Taylor, Nancy Wilson, Joe Williams, Herbie Mann, Frank Foster, Sam Rivers, and many others. Ted Shumate guitarist, composer, and recording artist, was born in Meridian, Mississippi. In 1983 Ted was hired as a full-time bandleader/guitarist at the Hurricane Jazz Club in Passagrille, Florida.

In the early years, Darlene’s background vocals as lead singer for The Blossoms behind The Righteous Brothers, Dionne Warwick, Marvin Gaye, Frank Sinatra and Elvis Presley (to name but a few) set the stage for her emergence as a star in her own right. Her Billboard hits include: He’s A Rebel, The Boy I’m Gonna Marry, Wait ‘Til My Bobby Gets Home, He’s Sure the Boy I Love and the #1 holiday classic Christmas Baby Please Come Home, a song that she performed annually with Paul Shaffer and the CBS Symphony Orchestra on The Late Show With David Letterman for some 29 years before David retired. With over five decades of entertainment under her belt complete with a number one single, Los Angeles native, Darlene Love, is still one of the most adored entertainers of the 20th century.
