    The City of Lights Decorating Contest is designed to encourage the community to decorate and beautify their homes, businesses and neighborhoods during the holiday season. Anyone within city limits is eligible to participate and will be placed on the City of Lights self-guided tour map for everyone to explore and enjoy! The City’s focus is to engage citizens to share in the holiday spirit – whether decorating themselves or driving around to see the lights, it will be fun for the whole family! Timeline: November 21 – December 7 Registration December 8 – 17 Round 1 Voting December 18 Finalists Announced December 18 – 29 Round 2 Voting December 19-21 Finalist Trolley Tours (6:00 PM)

  2. Lunch and Learn: The Resilience of Chimpanzees

    December 8, 2017, 12:00 PM - 1:00 PM @ Manatee Observation & Education Center

    Dr. Andrew R. Halloran, Director of Chimpanzee Care Services at Save the Chimps, is our speaker for the December Lunch and Learn at the Manatee Center. Dr. Halloran will speak on the resilience of chimpanzees, and how the rescued chimps at Save the Chimps in Ft Pierce - the world's largest chimpanzee sanctuary - reflect that resilience in overcoming their sometimes difficult backgrounds. This is a free program. Please feel free to bring lunch if you like.

Clara awakens after a holiday party to find that her beloved nutcracker doll has changed into a real live prince. The Nutcracker Prince must defeat the wicked Rat King and a despicable army of mice in a bitter war to the end. After the victory, the Prince escorts Clara as they travel to strange far off and beautiful lands to sample the exotic sights and flavors of the world. St. Lucie Ballet productions are prepared with quality and attention to every detail. The full-length production of The Nutcracker is a performance that fills the Sunrise Theatre with joyous ovations and applause. Nine years in the making, St. Lucie Ballet’s - The Nutcracker displays gorgeous backdrops, exquisite props, beautiful costumes, dazzling special effects and exciting choreography that entertain all ages.
