  3. Eco-Evening: IRL Health Update

    MRC is excited to team with the Manatee Observation and Education Center and the Fort Pierce Yacht Club for the very first of a new education series, Eco-Evening Presentations at the Fort Pierce Yacht Club. To kick off the series, the Marine Resources Council Executive Director Dr. Leesa Souto will discuss the first-ever comprehensive health analysis of the entire Indian River Lagoon. The evening begins with a brief social, followed by Dr. Souto’s presentation at 6:30 p.m., followed by a question and discussion session. This is an educational presentation that is complimentary and open to the public.

JIM FLORENTINE is a stand-up comedian, TV host, actor, podcaster and voice artist. He is best known for co-hosting VH1 Classic's heavy metal talk show series "That Metal Show" that ran from 2008-2015. JIM FLORENTINE is also known for his work on Comedy Central's show Crank Yankers where he performed the voice of Special Ed and Bobby Fletcher. Recently, JIM FLORENTINE has appeared in the hit movie Trainwreck as the one night stand guy and on the critically acclaimed TV series Inside Amy Schumer and Louie on FX. He was submitted for an Emmy for best supporting actor for his role of Kenny on Louie. FLORENTINE appeared on an episode of Girls in 2014. JIM FLORENTINE also appears in the feature film "A Little Help" starring Jenna Fischer (Pam Beesley of The Office).

  11. Proposed Half-Cent Sales Tax Open House

    Voters who want to learn more about the proposed half-cent sales tax -- and the local improvement projects it could fund -- will have a chance to speak directly with officials from St. Lucie County, Port St. Lucie and Fort Pierce at two upcoming open house events. These events are meant to give voters a chance to ask questions and receive information about the half-cent sales tax proposal, which will be question #14 on the November 6 ballot. There will be two open house opportunities: • September 26 in Fort Pierce at the Fenn Center, 2000 Virginia Ave, or • September 27 at the Port St. Lucie Community Center, 2195 SE Airoso Blvd.
