The City of Fort Pierce is closely monitoring Hurricane Irma and is encouraging residents to make preparations in the event that this major hurricane impacts our area. Residents should stay alert to forecast changes by reliable sources and have hurricane plans in place.
The City has initiated storm preparation activities including removing debris from streets and ensuring that stormwater infrastructure is free from obstructions. The Fort Pierce Utilities Authority is securing all vital equipment and working with Florida Municipal Electric Association to activate its Mutual Aid Network if additional resources are required after the weather has passed.
We are committed to keeping our residents safe and informed - all public notices will be provided on the city’s website at www.cityoffortpierce.com, social media channels and Fort Pierce TV Channel 27. Residents are also urged to sign up for St. Lucie County's Alert St. Lucie program to get emergency notifications sent directly to their phone, email or text: www.stlucieco.gov/Alert
While no decisions have been made regarding shelters in our area, residents with special needs must pre-register. For details, visit St. Lucie County’s website at: http://bit.ly/2j166Dg
The track and impact of Hurricane Irma will become clearer over the next few days. Residents and businesses should use this time to prepare. If you do not have an emergency plan, visit: http://floridadisaster.org/getaplan/
