Fort Pierce Police Detective Samuel Cooper was named Officer of the Year for 2017 at the 33rd Annual St. Lucie County Chamber of Commerce Business and Industry Award banquet Wednesday, Oct. 25. His diligent efforts to solve crimes were among the reasons he was chosen.

FPPD Hurricane Irma recovery phase update

St. Lucie County has been added to the list of Florida communities that have been declared by FEMA as a designated disaster area. All residents are encouraged to register for assistance, even if they do not see immediate damage because once the deadline passes, they will not be able to file.

FPPD preparing for Category 5 hurricane, residents urged to do the same

While the exact impact that Hurricane Irma will have on St. Lucie County is still unknown, FPPD and the county’s Emergency Management staff have been monitoring and preparing for the storm since Sunday. All St. Lucie County residents are strongly urged to do the same.

Man dies after ramming car loaded with propane tanks into apartment building

On Tuesday, July 4, at about 12:45 p.m., a 31-year-old male died at 410 Palm Avenue in Fort Pierce. He intentionally drove his car at high rate of speed into an apartment building at that address, apparently intending to harm people inside. Read more
